“Resilience is not a passive trait you are born with — it is a muscle forged in the furnace of uncertainty.”
AN ACCOUNTANT, ENTREPRENEUR & YOUTH MENTOR ON A MISSION
Nompilo Gumede is a seasoned Accountant, high-growth enterprise founder, published author, and dedicated youth mentor committed to institutionalizing financial literacy, governance, and business resilience across the African continent.
With over 16 years of corporate accounting and financial governance experience, Nompilo spent over a decade leading financial statement preparation, statutory risk mitigation, and corporate tax compliance. Throughout her corporate career, she witnessed a persistent structural failure: visionary entrepreneurs were collapsing not due to lack of market ambition, but due to poor cash flow management, inadequate tax compliance, and fragile balance sheets.
The Leap of Faith & Founding Cava Africa
In 2019, Nompilo took a decisive leap of faith, walking away from corporate certainty to launch Cava Africa. Her objective was clear: bring corporate-grade accounting, tax compliance, and strategic financial foresight directly to small and medium enterprises.
Championing Women & Youth Across South Africa
As Chief Executive Officer of Women in Business South Africa, Nompilo spearheads national policy advocacy, capital linkages, and peer masterminds for female founders. Concurrently, as a dedicated Mentor at the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), she trains thousands of aspiring entrepreneurs to build sustainable, self-reliant businesses.
Her journey of overcoming institutional barriers and achieving financial independence is chronicled in her acclaimed book, Building Business Resilience: How a Leap of Faith Shaped My Journey to Being a Champion Entrepreneur.
